ROOTED IN DELAWARE • BUILT ON LIVED EXPERIENCE
The D.R.E.A.M. Initiative (Diligently Realizing Every Aspiration Manifest) bridges the gap between disenfranchised individuals and the systems meant to serve them.
CREDIBLE MESSENGER MENTORSHIP & LEADERSHIP
Rooted in authentic lived experience, our leadership transformed personal struggle into a statewide movement for trauma recovery, credible messenger mentorship, and street violence intervention across Wilmington.
PERSONAL VALUE STATEMENT & LIVING PROOF
I was those young men trapped in the throes of crime and violence, glorifying a false reality of what a man was supposed to be. I was taught that toughness was strength and violence was how you communicated to the world. Pain was considered a weakness and my hurt was only validated by making others hurt.
The law had no legitimacy in my mind because of the predatory systems that preyed on my community. With this perception, I too was oriented into the criminal lifestyle where crimes are rationalized by desperation and mistakes were justified by decrepit circumstances. I was born in the streets and raised in prison.
"With this unique lived experience, I have naturally become a powerful asset in this crime fight since relatability along with my street reputation establishes my credibility to those we seek to reach. People don't care to listen to those who haven't walked in their shoes."
Policymakers, police, public officials, academics, and all who profess to have a stake in this fight all talk DOWN on violence-impacted individuals instead of LISTENING to understand first, then including them at the table of solutions.
We will work to prevent violence by correcting distorted value systems of those trapped in the criminal lifestyle. We will reinvent manhood and center values like social responsibility, community service, self-love, and self-efficacy. We will give people character development tools and promote a new culture of love and forgiveness. The Dream is the antidote to the cultural malignancy that enshrouds our communities.
Mentorship will not be a simple program, but will be at the core of all our initiatives because we believe in cultivating The Village around our youth to foster their healthy development.
OUR ETHICAL COMPASS
These values govern every crisis mediation, every mentorship circle, and every policy negotiation we undertake.
01
Every human being holds inherent value and the inalienable right to thrive. We reject disposable labels like "felon" or "lost cause."
02
True systemic transformation demands personal agency. We pursue deep accountability in personal choices alongside system reform.
03
Justice that solely punishes only perpetuates cycles of trauma. Real justice heals victims, restores wrongdoers, and repairs the social fabric.
04
Sustainable progress begins with leadership from within. Those closest to the pain must be equipped to engineer the solutions.
05
Healing requires collective responsibility and collaboration across grassroot residents, educators, faith leaders, and civic institutions.
THE EVIDENCE-BASED MODEL
Traditional social programs send outside specialists who leave when the workday ends. Credible messengers live in the neighborhood, survived the justice system, and answer calls at 2 AM when a neighborhood feud flares up. Because they walked that exact path, young men listen to them.
✓
Street Authenticity: Zero academic distance; direct credibility earned through shared experience.
✓
Real-Time Crisis De-escalation: Immediate on-the-ground response during active neighborhood conflicts.
✓
Living Proof of Change: Showing young people that manhood means accountability, family, and community leadership.
Whether through tax-deductible giving, volunteering as a mentor, or partnering as an employer, your engagement helps us realize every aspiration.
Whether you have lived experience, professional trades to teach, or time to give, our youth need your guidance.
Reserve your seat and stand in unity with our Wilmington community.
